best 400 dollar server build

going to be used for 2-4 gmod servers, max ppl on is 25.no case needed, must be an itx or mini itx mobo, xeon if u can pls

thats the thing, it's just much cheaper to buy one whole. If you wanted to buy one, prepare for hours of negotiation to get overpriced prices down

ok, i will try and make an xeon build, and if i dont find one, ill use the poweredge i found, take it out of it's case, and put it in my pc desk

get 2 used xeons on ebay

watch linus's video "150 dollars 8 cores"

and find a cheap used dell double socket mobo and try to cop up some ram. If u have an extra psu, take that money get 64 gigs of ram and 2tb of storage

While true, a dell r210 II, which is old, would still be a better deal than a new server.

Anything pre LGA 1366 will use lots of power. I recommend you actually get an r210 II, as it's incredibly cheap, but is still only a few years old. R610s are powerful, but what you really need for Garrysmod is per core performance. There is a very good deal for a server. Don't think you need lots of cores and memory to host Garrysmod servers. Memory usage for source engine servers is minuscule. The main thing that's important with source engine games is power per core, which this server has more of than an r610.
