Stick on a heatsink, or just use a fan?

Curious Pineapple

I've just bought a pair of chipset coolers, the ones with an adhesive thermal pad and a fan. Bought them just for the fan as they were being sold off, but is it worth attaching the whole thing my my existing northbridge and VRM heatsinks, or should I just use the fans from them?

You should be more specific about which board you're cooling and with what cooler.

MSI 970A SLI Krait Edition board and Akasa AK-210 chipset coolers. Not going to replace the entire northbridge heatsink, rather stick this one on the top, or just use the fan, and VRM's are a non-issue as there's no way to jam one of these on, but my new CPU cooler may blow enough air over the VRM's to keep them cooler anyway :)

What's your new cpu cooler?

I keep forgetting to quote :(

It's a Zalman ENPS10X Optima, single fan blowing straight across the heatsink towards the rear fan and VRM's

The motherboard heatsinks are already pretty decent. You could strap some small fans onto the motherboard if you need direct cooling.
