Hey guys!

I am a gamer and youtuber and I need to upgrade to a mechanical keyboard... What cherry switch should I use?

That depends on your tastes. Do you want a heavy or a light switch? Do you want click, bump, or just a smooth progression to the bottom? How much can you spend?

Core2Duo T6600 @ Stock

i3 2330M @ Stock

£80-ish... I don't really know about my preference tbh as I have never felt one and I don't know how it will affect my recording...

I suggest you find someone with a mechanical keyboard and try it out then. (Personally I use Cherry MX Clears)

If you record and you don't want something too loud, but your still looking for that tactile feel, I would go with the cherry mx red switches. Thats what I have and they are fantastic.

For recording you would need a quieter switch. Reds, browns, or silent switches would be your best bet and stay away from blues. See if any store has them on display and go and test out a few keyboards with different switches.

I  use blues and love them. If you need a more quiet keyboard browns are supposed to be pretty similar, but not as loud.

Here's a breakdown of all the switches: http://www.keyboardco.com/blog/index.php/2012/12/an-introduction-to-cherry-mx-mechanical-switches/

Watch this. It handily explains all the main types of cherry switches as well as provides some sound samples.
