Please help i have no idea why this keeps happening this is probably the 3rd time ive posted on these forums asking for help and then just stopping thinking that its fixed but every once and awhile my E drive just goes *poof* so then i power down my PC planning  on opening up my pc to fiddle with the sata cables so i do that and power it on then the C: drive failes then a few hours or days later after fiddling with the cables and powering on and off my machine it decides to finally work and then the problem is gone for atleast a few weeks until it returns and i go through the same terrible problems again

                        PC specs:

OS: windows 7 ultimate

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 635 Processor 2.90 GHz

RAM: 10.0 GB (3 sticks (unknown brand) of 2 gigs and 1 stick (PNY) of 4 gigs if this matters)

System Type: 64 Bit OS

im not that tech savvy but if there is anymore information you need i will be happy to give it to you hoping to fix this i will try almost anything and i dont have much of a budget to fix this

Try to use new SATA cables. Other than that I'd consider getting a cheap motherboard in the meantime.

Edit: How old are the disks?

Hi there Roberito :)

What is the drives' brands and models? I would suggest to start by checking their health with diagnostic tools from the manufacturers and checking if they pass all the tests.

You can try testing the drives with other SATA cables on other SATA ports on the motherboard and see if the issues persist.

Another possible cause of the problem may be the PSU not delivering proper power to the drives. You can test that by trying other power cables or trying another PSU.

Post back with some more info. :)

Did you manage to do the tests?

Do post the raw values of the S.M.A.R.T. status so we know the details around the condition of the drive.
