Hi. I'm planning to upgrade my computer. I'd like some feedback on my current build:

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/yccQD8

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD FX-9590 4.7GHz 8-Core OEM/Tray Processor  ($199.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212X 82.9 CFM CPU Cooler  ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 R5 ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($71.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($34.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($45.00 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R7 370 2GB Video Card  ($142.89 @ OutletPC)
Case: DIYPC Zondda-B ATX Mid Tower Case  ($45.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Cougar 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($47.99 @ SuperBiiz)

I'd specifically like some feedback on the CPU, if nothing else:

AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W FD8350FRHKBOX Desktop Processor

vs

AMD FX-9590 Vishera 8-Core 4.7 GHz Socket AM3+ 220W FD9590FHHKWOF Desktop Processor - Black Edition (in the build)

I also have another question: I currently have an ASRock MOBO. I've read that it's possible to switch the MOBO without needing to do a clean reinstall by uninstalling the drivers for the previous MOBO. I'm really hoping this is true because I have a dual-boot of Linux and I really don't want to go through the process of reinstalling it (I have a whole web development environment setup on it). In your experience is this possible?

My main goal is to be able to play games like Evolve, Overwatch, and Street Fighter 5 at 60 FPS and stream at a decent quality (1080p, 30 FPS).

P.S., I'm not buying ALL of these parts. I already have the GPU and RAM.

If you want FX chips so much wait for ZEN.

R7 370? Bruh. Cut some of the budget off the CPU and add it to the GPU.

I suck a typing, preparw for typos.

I have no attachment to the CPU. Nearly any CPU that helps me reach my goal.

And the reason I haven't looked into replacing the GPU is because the games I play right now, such as Overwatch and Street Fighter 5, haven't pushed it near 100% much.

For the price of FX 9590 I can get i5 6500 in my country, so if it's the same case for you, go get that i5 instead of AMD.

It's simply much better.

If you want to stick to AMD, then maybe you would want to wait till Q1 2017 for Zen to come out. Some benchmarks were released and it should be able to compare with Intel a bit better. Otherwise it's not that bad build. Your CPU won't be bottleneck since your GPU is high end :)

Intel i7 12700K | Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 | Pure Loop 240mm | G.Skill 3200MHz 32GB CL14 | CM V850 G2 | RTX 3070 Phoenix | Lian Li O11 Air mini

Samsung EVO 960 M.2 250GB | Samsung EVO 860 PRO 512GB | 4x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 140mm fans

Also I'm not hung up on graphics so if I need to cut down to medium setting I can do that.

Well Zen CPU with 8 cores and 16 threads at 3,0GHz is better than intel 8 core 16threads at 3,0GHz. Small difference, but Zen was shown to be better. In one benchmark only. And we don't know exactly what were they comparing and what were the turbo clocks etc.

But i5 6500 you can get for same price and it will be around 25% better than FX 9590 in overall benchmark, but like 50% better at single core tasks. Also much lower TDP and less heat problems. Not to mention DDR4 support :)

I will always strongly recommend i5 instead of any AMD. For now at least ... I still hope that AMD will offer something amazing with Zen CPUs :)

Okay, I'll look for a MOBO for this CPU.

i5 6500 is bad overclocker since it's locked chip.

But if you pay 20$ more and get i5 6600k it will have better performance out of the box + you can overclock it easily :)

Better to pay like 10% more and you will have realy decent PC.

Okay, so I've adjusted the build a bit. I just chose a compatible MOBO: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Lz6vf8

With this build it looks like I don't need to buy a new PSU :D. That brings my current cart to under $400.00 USD ($388.80, including shipping from Newegg)
