Laptop under $1000

Any suggestions on a laptop for under $1000 USD?  I am looking for it to hold up to 4 years of college so a solid build quality is a must.  I am not looking to do gaming on it, however would appreciate a small graphics card so in 4 years the laptop won't feel sluggish in graphics intensive tasks.  Also battery has to be able to last a day of note taking and web browsing.  I prefer the feel of a laptop over a 2in1 or tablet like a surface.  Thanks for your suggestions!
