Hi, good day. Im a bit confused, this is my first time to use a ssd on my desktop pc, I know that a sata power connector gives 12v/5v, may question is, is it ok to just plug the sata power connector direct on my 5v ssd or do I have to remove the yellow wire that gives the 12v power? I researched and some people say that its too risky to plug that without removing the yellow wire because its the line that gives the 12v and its not good plugging it on a ssd that only required 5v. Thanks.

if your sata SSD has a connector for sata power than a sata power connector from your PSU should be just fine. It only uses what it needs.
Otherwise everyone who wanted to use a SSD had to cut wires of there PSU, that would be strange

I make Rainmeter things and other art :D

This is a sata power cable:

And this is an SSD:

And you plug the sata power cable into the SSD like this:

Thanks. I just want to make sure because ssd price are a bit expensive and I dont want to mess up. Also, does it mean that I can also connect my 2'5 laptop harddrive on my desktop using the same sata power connector Im using on my 3'5 hdd?
