Hi LinusTechTips

I was wondering what will overclock best?
The 6800k or the 6850k.
The reason I ask is that all broadwell-e chips comes from same dye. So the 6800k would be the poorest of the batch on the dye.
Will this affect overclocking. I seen benchmarks that the 6800k could use more power than the 6900k because of this. 

 

Looking forword to your thoughs on this.

Get the 6800k, the 6850k isn't worth the extra money. 

 

You're playing the Silicon Lottery either way, more than likely they'll both achieve similar clocks at similar power draws with similar temperatures. 

 

(Although I would honestly consider the 5820k instead if it's much cheaper)

#1 It's not spelled dye it's spelled die :D 

 

Imo the 6850k just isn't worth getting. You're essentially paying 50% more for 12 more pcie lanes and maybe .2 ghz extra OCing headroom at best. I never recommended the 5930k to anyone and I never will probably recommend the 6850k.
