hi when i recently recorded some footage of wow everything became so blocky and *pixelaited* as soon as i moved around with my camera angle and yes this is game recording and i cant seem to find a sweet spot in bitrate or if that even is the problem to the pixelaited scenario and the worst part is this only happens on some games cuz when i play rts games it works sort of *flawlessly* i mean its better than the wow gameplay becasue of the choppyness and idk if i should *upgrade* to obs studio from the normal one so idk what to do. and same goes for streaming on twitch it either just freezes completly or as said gets pixelaited. my specs are gtx 970 and i5 6600k skylake and i use the x264 setting instead of nvdice or what ever its called and my bitrate is 2000 and 2000 max

sorry if i tied in 2 questions so lets make it simple

help me find good bitrate if that is the problem.

and could the upgrade from normal obs to stuido help me ?

and iam supposed to have 2 different profiles for streaming and recording ?

example is......

and please ask me questions need as much help as possible been tryin to figure shit out for a long time now and i cant seem to find it

OBS Studio is a better looking version of OBS Classic with some under the hood work done but not enough where you would want to switch. Your problem is your bit rate is too low.

but if its too high i cant stream :/ i think i have 5 in up

Streaming you should use 3500 for the bit rate and 720p for the resolution. Anything more pixelates too much. Recording you can go higher with OBS as evidence with this:

hmm so 1080p is a must for me if i dont want the stream to lag ?

Ah. I mean if you're able to record, resolution doesn't matter. It won't lag because of that per se. The problem is the bitrate is how much information you can put in to each frame. The more pixels you have the less detail you can put in to each frame at the same bit rate. The two ways your stream can lag is your hardware not being able to encode it fast enough, or you trying to use a bit rate higher than your internet can handle. But since Twitch only lets you up to 3500 kbs on the bit rate there's no real point streaming at 1080p, the image quality will look worse than 720p. If you're recording locally to upload to youtube you can balance between a bitrate your system can handle encoding and the resolution/frame rate you want.

ahh i see thnx for the help man :) ill be fiddeling around with bitrate then but you use x264 and not the gpu ? right when your stremaing and recordin

I personally use Quick Sync because my computer sucks.

You should be fine using x264, your CPU is strong enough to encode that without too much of a performance impact. You won't be able to go crazy with the bit rate but it's more than enough so the video isn't so pixel-y.
