I am looking for a good headset (I'm upgrading my peripherals) and I was wondering which I should get. I don't know much about audio stuff and my budget is around $75. I found the Turtle beach z22, CM Sirus, Corsair 1300 and the Razer Kraken Pro which all seemed good but I'm not sure which to get. Comfert and sound quality are my main priorities.

I say this almost every thread, but the best way to go is to get actual headphones + a cheap clip-on mic. Both your end and the mic will sound much better than you will get on any headset. Although if you MUST have an all-in-one, get the Siberia V2.

Instead of getting a not-good headset, you could get good headphones and a decent mic and tape them together like this(I know my headphones aren't good, but you get the idea, something from sennheiser or beyerdynamics would be good ;)) :

zz29.png

my mic is some hama thing, but it works great, something like this would be good as long as you don't want professional sound from your mic, which if you were going for a headset shouldn't have been a big concern for you ^^

Sound of it is decent, amazing for the price :)
For the headphones, I suggest you go to the subforum "Audio".

Buy a pair of Pioneer SE-A1000's and a zalman clip on mic. Don't waste your money on garbage "gaming" headsets.

Dude dont say the Sirus is garbage because I use that headset and I use it for gaming and music as well, I am not a audiophile but the sound quality is good, the software is good, and the build quality as well so dont tell me it is garbage man!

Easy man, I never said that particular headset was garbage, altough based on my past experiences with many different brands and different price points, I've come to the conclusion that they are all bad. I'm assuming you've never really listened to any headphones that are actually good, so naturally you think your headphones are good. Also x.1 "surround sound" is a total gimmick.

Dedicated headphones  + clip on/desktop mic > any "gaming" headset on the market. It's the truth and there's more than ample evidence to prove this.

I've also noticed this forum that some users are very quick to point fingers or get upset. If you don't like my opinion, ignore it and move on with your life and I will do the same to anyone else. I'm only here to help/give advice.

Sorry if I mistaken you wrong but I am not an audiophile and I just thought that I'd give my opinion on my personal headset. Just like you said I am also just giving my opinion and trying to help :) :)! I hear that a lot that "gamer" headsets are bad, or at least not as good as a real audio headset. But maybe a veeeeery stupid question, what would be the big difference between a gamer headset for 100 $ and a audio headset (or headphones since they miss the mic right) for a 100 $ ?!

Read this.

Long story short, you are paying a premium for that built in mic, most manufacturers of headsets notch the quality of the speakers and mic to save costs. You (the consumer) get's screwed in the end. Normal headphones have much better build quality and since they only have to focus on sound and not the mic (plus all of the stupid software/packaging ect ect) the sound is much better. Even at the $100 price point. K240's and the Pioneer SE-A1000's will be better than the most expensive headset on the market. Spending $150 can get you into some really nice headphones like the DT 990's and AD700x's. Good microphones can be picked up for $10-30 like the zalman clip on and blue snowflake.

when I went from shitty ass turtle fucking beaches to my first big audio purchase the corsair vengeance 2000 I was absolutely blown away I thought it was the best thing in audio ever. I ranted and raved over it and got a couple people in my guild to buy them.

the one good thing about that purchase is that it opened me up to good headphone devices I became curious about what other headphones there were. I bought the ath m50 and that was another epiphany in audio the detail and clarity was just on another level. since then I've bought a few other headphones and each one has been a new experience in different areas of sound

I'm glad you're having a great experience with your sirius gaming headset but my experience going from a gaming device to a headphone from a 'truly' dedicated audio company has been game changing. and it is the same for all the other veterans of the audio board

Siberia's are a pretty safe bet, and well worth the money. I really have a thing against turtle beaches, I've never found one that I've found comfortable or liked, but I know a lot of people that use them so I guess it could be taste. I had a set of razer carcharias's for a while and found them quite comfortable, but had serious trouble with the construction quality of them, I haven't had a good run with a couple of different razer products so I've tried to keep clear of them since. I've been using logitech g930's for a while and love the wireless and sound quality, the weight and shape of them took a while to get used to though, that said they are quite out of your price range but I'm guessing the weight and shape issues apply to their lower end headset's that have the same design, I have had some driver instablity with them as well though. All that said, if I had the choice again I would probably save some cash and get some siberia v2's, or the new elites look pretty amazing actually. As much as I love the wireless of the g930's, and I do find myself walking around the house a lot or making coffee with them still on which is actually pretty awesome, the siberia's are just really great headphones, incredibly comfortable, good sound quality, I've had friends that have used them for years without fault so construction quality seems pretty solid, and quite cheap for the quality of headset you get.

I completely agree with guys like @MayflowerElectronics, @Aphexx and @Bluethulhu, My latest pair of Siberia V2 were my favourite out of every headset I've used and even now I think they're a good sub $100 headset, but they don't even compete against dedicated headphones + mic. I've tried a whole bunch of headsets from logitech, plantronics, steelseries, razer and asus. Not ONE of them can compare to my new pair of 558 and I haven't even completely burnt them in yet. I've also used a bunch of sub $100 and +$100 sets of headphones cause my brother's a DJ here in Aus and he's got Sonys, Audio Techs, Bose, Denon, Beyer, AKG, Pioneer, etc. and even the cheaper models have much better audio than any headsets that cost +$100.

When these guys talk about paying a premium for a built in mic/brand/"gaming" look, they're telling you the truth.
I understand that everyone tries to defend their own purchases, as humans we never want to feel wrong or be upstaged but I can tell you, I've come from using all headsets to headphones + mic and it is a world of difference with audio quality. I'm not an audiophile (although I would love to get to that stage) but I did play guitar and drums all throughout highschool so my ears are tuned. And I can tell a huge difference in sound quality between headsets and headphones that are similarly priced.

It's great to have the convenience of a mic in the headset which is what always drew me to headsets but honestly, it's not much of a problem having a separate mic.
It is definitely worth the better sound quality of a pair of headphones, honestly it's a huge difference and my naive headset ass should get kicked for using them for so long.

TL:DR - Headphone + Mic.

We already recommended the Pioneer SE-A1000, but there's also the Philips Uptown, Sony MDR-7506, and Superlux has a bunch of options around the $30 mark.
