Your gaming performance will not really change based on which drive you use. Since you seem to have enough budget to afford a 2TB SSHD, I would advise getting a 240GB SSD, and a 1-2 TB HDD for mass storage (if you need it).

I myself have a 500 GB SSHD in the laptop I'm typing this on right now. I basically just makes the few programs that are on the SSD part launch really fast, and everything else is at normal 7200 RPM HDD speeds.

PSUs: EVGA B2/G2/GQ/GS, Corsair RMx/i, Grey-Label CXM, Everything Seasonic/Delta/Super Flower, XFX except XT

I plan on putting a 2 tb sshd in my setup.  i have a bit of wiggle room in my budget to add an ssd.  Should i pull the trigger and buy the ssd or is the hybrid drivr cache sufficient for gaming

When it says Hybrid Drive Cache, it does not mean a HDD and a SSD

What it means is, when writing small files to the disk, you can save it VERY quickly to the cache, so it saves, and then afterwards, saves it to the HDD so it appears to be fast, but is just as fast as saving straight to the disk.

This meants you cannot use that cache as a separate drive.

However, the WD Black Squared is a DUAL drive, not Hybrid.

This drive has a 240GB SSD AND a 1TB HDD in a single 2.5 inch drive.

As they are separate drives, you can save different things to each part, like OS to SSD, and large files and programs to the HDD, all in a single enclosure.
