so im looking to buy a good monitor but I have a couple questions on what features are really worth it

after you answer all the questions recomend me a monitor based on your opinion

I have no set budget I just want something that isn't too expensive due to the fact that I live in canada

Question 1: Is IPS worth it or are TN/LCD panels fine

how bad are tn panels compared to ips because I heard a lot of them have bad response time and I am looking for 1ms response time in my monitor

Question 2: are ultrawide monitors worth it and is curve worth it on them?

since i will be gaming I just want to know

Question 3: is 144hz really worth it or is 60hz fine?

Since I game I want to know if its worth the price tag

Question 4: is freesync/gsync really worth it?

  the title says it all

Question 5 is 1440p/4k really worth it

IMO i prefer 1080p because its simply easier to run and also I don't see the need for higher resoloutions because if i have a very powerful pc that is overkill for 1080p I will be able to run games at 1080p for a very long time

thanks for the continued support I have been getting on this forum

1st: IPS tends to be pricier, but has better angled view, unless you're looking at the monitor at a weird angle, TN is just fine
2nd: I never tried a curved monitor, can't answer that

3rd: I am now used to 144 FPS, and oh boy do I love it, when I try to game on a 60hz monitor I just can't cuz' it feels choppy

4th: Never tried Freesync/G-Sync

5th I personally would look after a 27" 144fps 1440p monitor (since I already have a 24" 144hz 1080p)

1. IPS has better brightness and color accuracy. Can really make a big difference on how good the visuals look but they also have a bit of a problem with backlight bleed. (makes blacks look a little bright). I would say worth it.

2. Most games today do support 21:9 with the exception of a few and no/very little support on old games. Can give some extra space for productivity but personally prefer dual monitors. Curved simply makes all the pixels equal distance from your face but doesn't add very much. I would say not worth.

3. If you can push 144hz can add a lot to a gaming experience. Unless your playing very twitchy competitive games like CS:GO and can only choose high refresh rate or resolution, resolution is a better investment as I prefer aesthetics over frames.

4. Freesync and g-sync is great if you can get a 144hz display. Regardless if you can push that many frames, it will make your games play very smooth with no tearing. A bit of a waste to get one and play at say 70 fps but still very worth the experience it can add.

5. 1440p is definitely worth the investment if you can run it. 4k is still hard to drive on a single GPU so I would say wait till the support becomes better. The visuals are very nice and makes AA less necessary.

Hope this helps. if you have a card powerful enough I would recommend 1440p144(G-Sync) IPS > 1440p60 IPS > 1080p144(G-Sync) IPS.

1. IPS looks better, but my standards for picture quality are not that high so I still like TN.

2. I personally dont like them but this is subjective.

3. 144hz is awesome, 60FPS feels like 30 now though lol. If you can maintain a 120+ish FPS then you will notice a lot less screen tearing as well.

4. Depends what games you play, if you play games like CS GO, Overwatch, with a decent GPU then you can achieve 120+ish frames so It probably would not be worth it. But if you play games like witcher 3 and stuff then its awesome. Gsync is very expensive though but works at all FPS, and Freesync is a lot cheaper but works within a certain FPS cap.

5. I have only seen 1080p and 4k monitors, and if you play competitive games 1080p is awesome cause you can get higher FPS, but 4k looks amazing, this is all subjective though.
