Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new headset for my build. I'm currently using the Asus Strix 2.0 which I really dont like. Its pretty comfortable but it just stops working every now and then for some reason and ive head to cover the headphone jack splitter bit with electrical tape to keep it from making that popping noise (Im not sure why it worked but it did).

Anyway, Im looking for a headset thats great for figuring out exactly where the sound is coming from, specifically for games like rainbow six siege, overwatch, battlefield. I dont really listen to music on my computer so thats not really an issue. Ive heard that 'true' 7.1 surround sound is a gimmick but im not sure how true that is.

I'm looking at two headsets right now,
The Corsair Void 7.1 Surround Wireless and The Logitech G930

Theres some sort of deal on the Logitech right now on Amazon and its going for  70 USD (120 USD for the Corsair Void).

Which one would be better for what im looking for and which will cause me the least amount of headaches in the future?
I dont really mind saving up a little and going for a more expensive option if it really is better.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Haha after using various wireless headsets id never go back, being able to move around without yanking the thing off my head is a godsend.

Id go with the Corsair. Ive heard so much bad news about the g930. And I had the older version which also had constant issues.

You have two options here

1. Ditch wireless and get real headphones + a mic

2. Get some Sennheiser RS headphones and a mic

What headphones would you recomment for gaming (comfort over longer periods of time being a major point here).

depends on budget, the DT 770, 880 and 990 are always a nice option

Suppose we will agree to disagree then. Ive used various good wired sets, Had a set of Sennheiser PC330s & Sony MDRV55s, also used to use my cousins Sennheiser HD558s on a regular basis. I will admit the big driver headphones are fantastic for music and movies. However for gaming and wearing for a long period of time I would take a, what is now days a rather small, hit to audio quality in favour of not having to worry about tangling cables & being able to get up and walk around whilst still listening to voice comms.

Im going to count on the fact that the OP is already considered and is willing to accept the compromises since the main criteria for the headsets he is currently looking at is wireless.

Thanks for all the responses!

Although im sure that stand alone headphones are probably better than a headset with a mic and all that, it just not what im looking for right now.

As for wireless versus wired, im actually not too fussed. I just want the best possible headset for gaming (ie, knowing exactly where people are and being able to tell where footsteps are coming from). Is the Sennheiser PC 363D any good?
