Video Ediing project files?

I've been wanting to get better at video editing and have wanted to edit something different that a bit of gameplay. So I was wondering is there something like a competition (that you know of) that will say supply all the footage, you just have to chop it altogether and add a flare to it. Or anything of the sort.

Only thing that supplies source material is school. That I know of.

You could also ask around for local groups like extreme sports, bands and amateur film crews if they in need of extra hand as editor.
