Small anechoic chamber?

Would it be possible to make a tiny anechoic chamber, like a 12"cube, to fire speakers into to measure?
Or would the size just create even more reflections?

What kind of dampening material would I need?

Measure what? SPL? dB? How big are the speakers you'll be using? There probably wouldn't be enough air in the 1 cubic foot box you'd build to get proper measurements, depending on the size/type of speaker you're trying to test.

Measure the FR curve, and distortion, and a CSD plot.

I would use probably no bigger than a 6"driver.

How would the box need to be to get proper measurements?

TBH, I'm not sure. I'm not an audio expert, I just know that 1 ft3 isn't much space and would more than likely hamper the performance of even a 6" driver. Do you have a closet or something you could build in? You could make a small isolation booth like in a recording studio.

A small box won't be able to contain wedges large enough to absorb low frequencies.

The best way to measure speakers is to take them to a large space outside and put them on a proper stand.

Yeah, I figured that might be an issue.

Guess I'll have to do it the normal way.
