Hi,

As the title suggests I'm trying to build a new Windows XP PC. I'm Still relatively new to building pcs but I'm still knowledgeable about it. I'm on a budget of around $50 and decided to use a

Pentium 4  CPU. At this point I'm not sure which one but I know there are several different pentium4 models on Ebay for a few dollars.I was thinking  about the Pentium 4 630. The bit I'm stuck with is the motherboard and the power supply.  I just don't know what I need. If anyone has any suggestions they would be graeatly appreciated wether it is a suggestion for a motherboard, power supply or CPU.

PLEASE HELP

For the psu try a cheap used delta or antec earthwatt psu rated in continuous power. These seem to be abundant in used sites

On the ram 2gb is enough

On the mobo get the cheapest unit you can from asus gigabyte or msi which has the features you want

Spend the remainder of the money on the most powerful cpu you can get

}

else {

 DONT

Thanks for the replys but it doesn't really answer my question. maybe I wasn't clear. I am going to use a Pentium 4 630 CPU. Do you know of any cheap motherboards that support this CPU. Also, what power supply do I need. How beefy does it need to be. As for features on the motherboard  I just need standard stuff. HDD connectors, VGA, Sound, a couple of usb ports and maybe a PCIe slot.

I ran Windows XP off 256MB RAM so that isn't really a problem. Maybe aim for 300W or above for the PSU. Not sure about motherboards sorry. Are you going with IDE drives?

Thanks for the help. that's the power supply sorted and added to my spreadsheet. I'm gonna get 2GB of ram just so I can run some specific programs I have. As for an IDE drive, yes I was going to use one.
