My 6600k is going to need quite a lot of voltage to stabilize 4.5ghz.  The EVO 212 that I have now inst cutting it, with load temps of around 80c with a ambient room temp of 22c.

I would like to get opinions on using a pull pull configuration with the NH-D15.

While the NH-D15 will fit my Asrock Z170 pro4s and my Antect P-100 case , it will not clear my memory heat spreaders without raising the fan. Raising the fan may just fit in my case but I would rather not do this.

I just upgraded from a CM 212. With a 4790k @4.7 1.24v my temps dropped by 15°c across the board. 80-85°c down into the 70s in OCCT.

You'll probably do better with the NH-D15S, it's basically the single fan version which will be more than enough for you.

80c is fine.

Great, thanks for the info everybody.

I may pull the heat spreaders of of my ram, as I have read that they are mostly for looks anyway.

While I understand that 80c is acceptable, I expect that as I add more voltage and as ambient temps rise that processor will get a lot hotter.

noremac258, I certainly hope that I have the same experience, I considered the "s" model but my ego got in the way and I do not really need the clearance for graphics card. I guess the worst that will happen is I will use the second fan for case.

Heatspreaders still help cool the ram down a bit even if it might not be necessary. Why take them off?

How much further were you planning on pushing the voltage?

Still. Temps you get under stress test are higher than what normal loads would bring. Even when encoding/rendering.

The only reason that I would remove heat spreaders is for clearance for the fan on the cooler.

I'll raise voltage as far as necessary too reach a stable 4.5ghv, currently comp is not stable @4.5 with vcore at 1.375. The heat issue stopped me from going further with vcore.

My thinking here is that I would try and get to a stable 4.5 with better cooling and higher voltage.

You're fine up to 80-90c at load so if you're just peaking 80c, you can push it a bit further.
