What causes this?

If the 920M is the mobile GPU, does it have any VRAM alongside it?

The other issue might be that since the GPU might not have enough VRAM and it has to access the HDD for required data.

its because the VRAM limit of the GPU is exeeded so it goes elsewhere for data, like your RAM or SSD/HDD there for taking longer to get the data and it makes the game stutter

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

sorry, but use only ~950MB of VRAM. Total VRAM is 2GB

well VRAM is the most common problem, might be CPU not beeing able to keep up or the install could be bugged slightly. not sure tbh

I don't remember how large GTA V's install is but can you install it to a 3.0 USB? If it works without stutter, I'd look at the HDD.

its 60+GB, and running games of USB sticks is a bad idea, it wears them out pretty quickly becuase of all the read/wrights

probably is just a bad install or something, not the HDD

GTA V is very CPU intensive. Most likely your mobile CPU is going into thermal throttling, which is a common occurrence in laptops while gaming.

You can ease some of the load on your laptops cooling system by turning the graphics settings down some. A laptop cooling pad may also help.

I already I'm playing this game on lowest settings and on DX10. On every single resolution it stutters after 15 minutes of playtime. So annyoing.
