Hi guys, I bought a Galaxy S7 in Asia while traveling there. When I return to the US, should I just plug the charger into an adapter, or buy a new US-plug charger for my S7? Which one is safer/better? Just making sure because I've heard horror stories of people blowing up their phones.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

If you're staying in the US a long time then yes get a US-plug charger.  It's just easier than carrying a charger and adapter everywhere.

Most chargers these days are universal input - just check the label which should say the input voltage range and the input frequency range.

If they're "universal" then you don't need to worry about it. They'll work.

If a charger was "optimized" for specific countries (but still designed to accept various mains voltages), for example let's say 220-240v at 50 Hz, when you use that charger in a country with another mains frequency or different voltage, the charger may sound slightly different, there may be some buzzing or some low volume wining coming from the charger.  That's perfectly fine, it's not a sign of failure or of a bad design, it's just the charger working in a mode it was not optimized for.
