where do i plug in additional drives? [pictures]

kofman13

Hey guys. So my main audio workstation/gaming rig is a pre built Powerspec monster. It came with a 500gb 850 evo pro boot drive and a 2TB WD hard drive for storage. I want to add another SSD to the case. The Corsair C70 case it came in has racks for up to 6 drives, and i took a picture of the Sata portion of my MSI X99 Gaming 7 mobo for yall to help me. Sorry for the dust. i legit went nuts with a compressed air can before taking these pics but some is still left .

The sata cables already plugged in are my two current hard drives and my BDRW Drive.

Power wise, the cable with power plugs for the hard drive has more plugs along it for more drives. but for sata, I would just need to get another sata cable and plug it into one of these sata ports in the pictures?

Yeah just need to get the power from the cable already provided and plug the SATA from your storage device to a similar port on mobo (right place in pictures).  I think most drives come with sata cables but I am not certain.

Then you need a sata cable to connect the drive.  Just search on amazon or whatever tech retailer is close to you and type in "sata cable" and you'll' be fine.

Yea, sata cables come with the motherboard, not the drives. They are extremely cheap for a Sata 3 cable from Newegg.com or monoprice.com

Here is a close up of the cables and a more wide area of my build itself to show you how well the color matches up with the rest of my build.

I ordered customer cablemod cables for my PSU so it does look much cleaner than the average build.

those are short right? thats why it looks so easy to route and be clean? i feel like the ones that were used that came with the PSU are soo long and stiff so its impossible to get them tucked anywhere. this is my first windows desktop so I am new to everything. but I installed rgb lights and a NZXT Grid2 fan system. and a new wireless card thats about it haha.  P.S. i like what you did by removing the hard drive cage and keeping the top one, i did opposite, took out top and kept bottom. might switch to your style

No, just have them hidden very well behind the motherboard tray. You can order custom length ones to fit exactly what you want and need.

Yea, mine are individually sleeved cables, instead of the hard plastic that comes with most PSU's.

https://store.cablemod.com/configurator/ incase your interested. Here you can go order the cables. You will need to ensure that they have your PSU though as all are different.
