Hello everyone,

So, I am trying to figure out a better solution to my home network. It is a fairly simple setup, but I am having trouble with some basic stuff. I am definitely not an expert in the area (far from it, actually), and would appreciate any help.

The current equipment I have is:

ADSL Modem + Router (D-Link DSL-2730R, which I got from the ISP): This is a fairly old router, and right now I am only using it as a modem, hardwiring it to a better Wi-Fi router

TP-Link Archer C20i Wireless Router: this is the router that connects all of my network stuff

My network layout currently looks like this:

The problem with this layout is that I have two networks instead of one, because the modem (in green) creates a network of his own, with only the Wi-Fi router (in red) connected to it. What I want to do is move the wireless router to a better location inside the house, and for that I would need to have the Desktop PC 1 and the NAS connected to the modem/router, but still being able to communicate with the Desktop PC 2 and any wireless device connected to the TP-Link Wireless router. To keep things clear, what I need is something like the following, with every device being able to communicate with one another:

From what I know, it should be possible to configure my network to work as I want to, using the hardware I already have (the two routers, basically). I tried disabling the red router's DHCP server to force the green router to distribute IPs on the same subnet to every device, but that didn't work out. What am I missing here?

Thanks for the help,

Guilherme.

well now you see the problem with using two routers, don't you? use a switch instead, and a standalone AP.

Yeah for sure that would work, but I believe I could make it work without having to buy new hardware, that's my goal :)
