So in my build (That you can see on my profile) has an intel core I5 6500 and an r9 380 4G. I'm looking to get an upgrade but I'm not sure where to go from here, and of course I'mnot looking to spend a ton of cash but would like somewhat of an upgrade. Let me know what you think i should go for and the price of the card

There are a few things you can upgrade, actually.

Perhaps the cheapest upgrade would be getting an SSD as your boot drive. A decent 250 GB SSD can cost $70-$90, and a 500 GB SSD can cost $120-$160 depending on brand and if it's on sale. Using a faster SSD makes your experience snappier and better, and is one of the first things I'd upgrade.

You can also upgrade your CPU to an Intel Core i7-6700 if you want, though these cost $305. You could instead get a 6700K, but these are $350 + the price of a new motherboard if you want to overclock (if you can't overclock, $350 makes it a worse value). If you're just gaming, you don't need to overclock, and it might not be worth it if you're not building a brand new PC. It depends on your wants/needs, ultimately.

You can upgrade your GPU to something better. You could get a GTX 1070 for $379+, though you're not going to see any cards priced quite this low that aren't in stock, yet.

IMO no where right now.  Yes there are z170 matx, possibly mini itx too, but I haven't really looked that much into those.  Basically I'd work with what you have now and then when Kabylake-X chipset and Skylake/Kabylake-X CPUs come out look at a new mobo/CPU/Ram(quad channel most likely with KBL-X)

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.

Depends on what you do. Without exceptions getting and SSD to put your OS is by far the best upgrade for the money you can do (massive changes in all around performance for only $60-90!). If you only game, your processor is fine for a while, leaving a GPU upgrade to be the next big thing. If you are doing a lot of video editing or rendering though, upgrading to an i7-6700 would be a good upgrade before upgrading the GPU. If you wanted to overclock or overclock and do stuff like video editing ect, go for a overclocking motherboard and a 6500k/6700k respectively (along with a good cooler for both).

For a GPU upgrade a RX480 or GTX1060 (note you could not decide to get a 2nd 1060 in the future for SLI for more performance, while you could get a 2nd 480 and crossfire should you desire) should be good for current games at 1080p 60FPS, or if you really want power go for a 1070.

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

3970X/256GB - 5950X/128GB ECC - 5600G/96GB - 3400GE/16GB - 3400GE/16GB
