Recently my router has died (currently using ASUS RTN66U) and I need to buy a new one, I have 5 devices wired in with about 25 wireless devices connected at any one time with a external hard drive connected for remote access to files through the router.  Routers use is mostly for gaming, video streaming and a file server that is mostly used for backing up data.  My question is what are some good router options in the sub-$150 price range and that I don't need to load third party software on to get good use out of.

Thanks

I recently purchased the TP-Link Archer C7 router for my fiancee's family. It's a great router and a great value - you can often find it for around $100.

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

wireless ac with 5 ghz to separate from more common frequencies has served me so well i have looked no further any reason to improve my wireless home network. mine is a netgear nighthawk. you should be able to get one within your price point. just focus on 2 things dual band and wireless ac standard and you should be fine. mind you i stream a locally operated plex server as well as remote ones in addition to competitive gaming without a hiccup.
