Questions on line speed

Go to solution Solved by brwainer,

If they're putting in new phone lines, and the existing ones really are ~40 years old, you may see an increase in speeds. DSL speeds are all based on the signal strength that you can get - the closer you are to the local office/exchange, and the better quality the lines, the higher speeds you are able to get.

In about a month we are getting a new internet line from my house to the road, I was wondering if this will improve my up/down speeds, since were running on a line from the 70's, i currently get 3 down and .5 up, If anyone knows let me know. Thanks!

We have no idea what kind of line you are getting, and what kind of speeds you will be getting. You will have to give us more details.

The first one will probably be the standard phone lines, what ever frontier communications decides to give us, and im pretty sure we are paying for 14 down but they arent delivering.

So they are running new phone lines? That can't be as phone lines should have been scrapped completely 10 years ago.
