new rig for gaming/audio production

Hey guys,

 

I'm looking at putting a rig together and could do with a bit of advice in regards to the spec. I've not been following PC hardware for sometime as I bought a few macs consecutivly as they suited my needs better but I'm getting fed up of not being able to upgrade the internals, anyways the spec is below.

asus maximus VII hero

core i7 6700k (h100i v2 cooler)

16gb corsair vengance ddr4 ram

amd rx480

550w corsair cxm psu

256gb samsung sm961 m.2 (system and most used apps)

240gb corsair force LE ssd (ableton/reason libraries and media)

It would be primairly work/everyday use along side gaming and music production, gaming wise I would like every slider maxed out but cant afford a 1080 or 1070 so the rx480 seems to be the right choice? or perhaps I should remove the m.2 drive and put more into the gpu?

any advice would be great.

Thanks... Curiously, what are your thoughts on the rx480 opposed to the gtx1080? I know what you have put forward fits my budget, however, I could get a 4k monitor if I go with the 480.

Well the 480 wont be able to run modern games at 4K at very good framerates. I would get a GTX 1070/1080 and a 1440p monitor.

ooo... I like that, could go ultrawide
