I am currently in the middle of a huge upgrade on my PC, I have just changed my case and PSU to ready up for my 1080. I am not doing the last couple of bits which include changing the case fans, CPU Cooler and adding an SSD.

I have chosen to go with 3x140mm Be Quiet! Silent Wings 2 for case fans.

I then began looking at CPU Coolers and am thinking to either go with a Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3 or Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3. But then someone bought the Be Quiet! Dark Rock TF to my attention so now I am unsure.

I currently have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, it has served me well but it is time for a change.

Currently, I have done some light overclocking resulting to my idle temperature being around 40-50 Celcius. (Not that high but I do want to overclock more :D)

I am also trying to get my PC as quiet as possible, I have swapped my PSU to an RM750X and the fans will be swapped to Silent Wings 2.

What CPU Cooler do you think I should use for best performance and still maintaining almost complete silence?

Thanks for any help, Dexter :)

What part would you like me to suggest that fits in your PC Build? (CPU, Fan, Etc).

My PC Currently Is The P2-1320a.

Edited post, I apologise for making it unclear.

I am looking to get a new CPU Cooler :)

I think the silent wings 3 fans aren't too far off from being released.

I would go for the Dark Rock Pro 3 personally if you have low profile memory. I was going to get one, but the store did not have low profile memory, so I ended up getting an AIO.

The Dark Rock TF is a low-profile cooler, and isn't going to cool as well as the Dark Rock Pro 3. Out of the three options, I suggest the Dark Rock Pro 3. Just be aware of its finicky mounting process.

beQuiet fans are indeed extremely silent, but at the cost of static pressure. The Dark Rock 3 / 3 Pro are amazing but honestly, you shouldn't go with the Pro version. It's a lot bulkier which won't help for installation and RAM clearance, and the difference in performance is ridiculous, 1 or 2°C at most. Just go with the Dark Rock 3 and add a second Silent Wings fan, it will increase static pressure (and thus help the temps) while maintaining a silent operation

How far off do you think they SW3 are from release?

At a later date, I plan to upgrade to something like the Corsair Vengeance DDR4 Ram or something similar.

I currently have Kingston HyperX Fury Red 1x8GB

The Dark Rock Pro 3 is about £70 with the TF just short at £65 and the DR3 being the cheapest at £50.

I completely agree with it being a lot bulkier, I would much prefer getting the normal Dark Rock 3 as it would look a lot nice and is not gonna restrict my ram use.

If I stick another Silent Wings 2/3 on the other side will I lose much performance to the Pro?

They are included in the dark base 900 case, I would have expected later this month.

I don't know if there is an official release date yet, so you may be better sticking with the SW2 fans if you need them now.

From what I saw, it's 2-3°C difference between the 2 with only one fan on the regular version. So with a second fan, you'll get around the same cooling perf as the Pro version I think. I for example run an i7 4790k @4.6GHz 1.21v at around 30-35°C idle and 74°C max under full load on synthetics benchmarks with 2 fans. Never more than 72°C in normal usage, and never above 65°C in gaming. I feel like it's quite enough and pretty damn good considering the fans are barely audible ;)

1

That is the same CPU as I have now except I have mine at 4.4Ghz as at 4.5 it was hitting 45 °C

Adding the extra fan gets it to just under the price as the Pro which is perfect as means I have a spare £5 :).

I will have a look online see what I can find out about the SW3 as of course, newer is better. If they are coming out soon will they be releasing new CPU coolers this well? With the new fans?

Most coolers are built with standard RAM in mind. The DRP3 itself will itself work with most RAM and the front fan can adjusted anyway. It will hang over the memory sticks so if you're concerned about aesthetics, perhaps that's not the cooler for you.

In terms of thermal performance/cooling, the heatsink itself is the more integral part of a CPU cooler rather than the fans. Between the DR3 and the DRP3, you'd be looking at a 1-2C difference. Not much at all.

@roylapoutre I did some looking around and the Silent Wings 3 were meant to be released in the first part of this year (2016).

I also saw that they would be released at q2, but I am not sure if that has been or is finished?

It's been a while since they presented them, but they were delayed last year (I think they were originally scheduled for the end of 2015) and should come out this month. All Dark Rock 3 are still sold with the Silent Wings 2 135mm and I didn't want to wait for the Silent Wings 3 so I just bought another Silent Wings 2 120mm :P You can wait to see if it's worth investing in the Silent Wings 3 when they come out

Idle temps don't really matter. What are your load temps?

Currently, the highest I have seen is something like 86C, That's why I had to lower the overclock.

86c is fine is that's as high as it gets.

Ok, I think I will do a little more testing when I get the new CPU cooler to see what is to much and what is just right so I can get the best out of my CPU without frying it.
