How can two 24" monitors be different sizes?

krevan88

Basically my question is revolving around my two monitors that I am running right now. I have an ASUS VG248QE for my main monitor, and an HP w2408h for my side monitor. Both claim to be 24" monitors, but the HP's screen is slightly taller when I put them both on the same mount. The bottom of the screens are exactly aligned, so I know that it's actually the screen and not just how they're mounted. I'm just curious how these work.

The 24" refers to the diagonal size. Like lower left point to upper right. So if one monitor is 1920x1080 and another is 1900x1800 then they will be different. However, some manufacturers don't include bezels.

Brah, do you even Java?

Well, some monitors, such as my VX228H is advertised as a 22" monitor. Its actually a 21.5" monitor and they round up. that could be one thing. another thing could be its resolution and/or aspect ratio.

Your ASUS monitor is 1920x1080, while the HP is 1920x1200, so the ratios are different

The ASUS is 16:9, while the HP is 16:10, making it ever so slightly taller.
