Will this Pump/Res Combo work sideways?

Thinking about putting the EK D5 Bay Reservoir (https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-dbay-d5-pwm-mx-acetal-incl-pump) in my Air 540, but the 5.25 bays are sideways. I've seen it in a few online, but they didn't mention if any modding was required. Just checking with you all to make sure this won't result in complications. Thanks

Have the outlet at the bottom and it should be fine.

you wont be anle to fill the reservoir in that config, the fill top is on the top of the reservoir, also if you somehow manage to fill the reservoir you are going to have another problem, you cant use your system untill ALL the air has been bled from the loop because the untake for your pump is close to the top of your reservoir.

can't he turn the computer sideways? and just fill that way?

yes but the issue is he would have to leave it like that untill he is 100% sure there is absolutely no air in the loop or else he is probably going to kill a pump or two.
