What about tax?

I've been planning this build for a while now and I've wondered about how tax will work. I've been reading articles about how tax works and I've been trying to figure out how much tax I would have to pay for PC parts but I still don't understand. If there's anybody that could tell me how much tax will cost for my build that would be appreciated. Do I even have to pay tax on PC parts? I heard people say that tax is only charged if you live in California (which I don't) but that doesn't sound true to me. I don't know, could somebody help? Thanks for all the help guys!

If you live in the US tax is not a lot unless you have an Amazon warehouse in your state then it is an extra $20-$30.

Sales tax has to be charged on in state sales on the sellers end.  All purchases that have not already had sales tax paid, the buyer is supposed to pay 'use tax' on.  For the most part, states don't really bother to even try to enforce this unless it's a very large sale or business related; but technically this is how it is supposed to work in most states.

 

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.

THe Tax is whatever your state sales tax is. SO whatever you pay for a sales tax in Illinois, which by my google kungfu is 6.25%. So take your total and times it by 6.25% and add that number to your total and that is what you should expect to pay.
