Mid range AMD cards

ThePotatoMan1248

I'm torn i don't know what to do. I can't chose between $150 msi r7 370 4gb, $199 msi rx 470, $199 or a reference rx 480 4gb. My budget is $100 - $200 for a card.

If your budget maxes out at $200, grab a 4GB RX 480. The 370 is well past its prime and into budget gaming territory, and there's really no point in buying a 470 if you can afford a 480.

The $150 msi r7 370 4gb is not comparable to the other two items you're looking at, and I wouldn't choose it for today's gaming environment.

480 is louder and hotter then the msi custom cooler and I could overclock better and the factory over clock on msi 470 makes it 2-5 fps off of the reference 480 and like I said it is cooler and quieter. But if the acoustics are worth proformance I would get the reference 480 4 gb

How well does the reference 480 overclock

I dont think it overclocks well, temps on load are 83 degrees celsius on the reference model and the heatsink isn't very good.

The stock RX 480's cooler is absolute shite I would look at buying a aftermarket card or buy a aftermarket cooler like a Arctic Cooler Mono Plus as the stock cooler will get you nowhere and the noise will drive you insane.

Reference RX480 8GB owner here, max OC i have accomplished is 1390mhz core and 2250mhz memory. A 1340-1360mhz overclock isnt bad noise wise. I am running crossfire and these two cards at factory settings are more quiet than my single HD7970ghz Vapor-X every was.

Ok thanks everyone I think I will wait to find a good cooler by power color or msi and get a rx 480 4gb. Should be between $200 and $220 right? So a after market cooler for the rx 480 4gb ~$215. Sounds like a good idea?

+ By the way I am looking to play garden warfare 2 overwatch and need for speed at 1080p 60 Hz I know it will be way overkill I just want to be ready for the next few years and later be able to play at higher resolutions and frame rate and just in case of I want to play more intensive games later like tomb raider and new battlefeild 1.

215$ for a AF 480 is good. Take it.

In Spain they cost 250, an the 8G version 310 euros. We get wrecked here. Also, custom gtx 1060 go for 369€, although there are models for 279.

Look for a used r9 390 or GTX 970 then and call it a day if you cant wait for the RX 480. http://www.ebay.com/itm/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-970-4GB-SC-GAMING-ACX-2-0-GPU-Graphics-Card-04G-P4-2974-KR-/282133006283?hash=item41b07007cb:g:V1kAAOSwU-pXrYjq

I think I know what is happening i have been hearing about it from a lot of things. Because the 470 came out around the same price as the 480 the want to sell both so they haven't sent out very many 4gb 480 at least for now probably in about a month things will settle down and they have everything.
