Router upgrade or not

Hello guys

 

I am using an ASUS RT-AC68U router, the house has 4 phones connected to it, 6 computers, 2 TVs and 2 xboxes. Would i see any benefit from upgrading to a RT-AC88U or RT-AC5300? or maybe the NIGHTHAWK X6 R8000 from Netgear

I think you will be fine. Remember, route Ethernet cables to as many things as possible and use 5.0GHz wifi as much as possible

how are each of the devices connected? If all are running of WiFi you may see a benefit only if every single device is hitting the router at once with something high bandwidth like 4k streaming, downloading stuff and internal file sharing/streaming (plex, xbmc etc)

If it's a wireless performance or range issue then buy a dedicated Access Point. A Ubiquiti UAP AC Lite or Pro will run rings around the Asus or any similar product and costs significantly less.
