Hmm, i've been pondering about a z170 build as well, and when i tried to make a build, I went with the gigabyte z170xp sli. It's a bout $125 but it also seems to have better reviews over the gigabyte z170 ud3. But looking at the newegg reviews for the gigabyte z170 ud3, in the end, even with it's weird mounting spot, most of them have gotten past that issue and the board is mounted to the pc. So you can go with the random board i suggested, or the ud3, or another board that you find. any of them will work.
