Very unlikely we'll get a 1080ti, the Pascal Titan X is basically that. What we might get is a bigger Titan, since the Titan X is cut down this time.

How come?

The current titan x is wayyyy out of my budget, that's why I'm looking at a 1080ti

Simple, there's not room for it. The Titan X is anywhere from 15 to 30 percent faster than a 1080. At 4K things are definitely better but not that much. The Titan XP has 12g or VRAM just like the last one, cut that and you have 6g, like the 980ti. Who would buy a 1080ti with 6g of VRAM when the 1080 has 8? So not room memory wise, and no room performance in games. The Pascal Titan X is a Deep Learning card, not a gaming card. It can game, and does quite well, but it's just a 1080 will more cores. Add in that the Pascal Titan X is also cut down and you have the recipe for a larger Titan with HBM2, not a 1080ti.

Sorry charlie, get one 1080 and SLI them later. Or wait for Vega and a big price drop on the Pascal Titan X, and a possible rebadge to a 1080ti.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
