So I have a rather peculiar problem. About a month ago, my family upgraded our internet plan from ADSL to fiber connection, and I noticed, after a few days, that the WAN connection disconnected every few hours, then it would reconnect again after a few minutes. So everytime that happens, I log into the Optical Network Terminal they gave me, and the RX Optical Power and TX Optical Power section stops displaying any information. So I know that's the source of the problem, but what bugs me is if this is a physical problem (dust, impurities in the fiber, faulty cable,...), the ONT should be unable to reconnect, and it doesn't really make sense to me that this is a software problem, since the information is suppose to show physical status. Is there anything I can do about this? I tried cleaning the fiber connectors, but the problem persists. I know that I should contact my ISP, but I want to know whether if this is something I can fix by myself first. The model is Huawei HG8045a (A router and an ONT).

well your signal is fine, but whatever problem you are getting would have to be whatever switch is upstream.

My native language is C++
