OK, so I am a newbie here, and to PC building, but I would like to have some people steer me in the right direction for a gaming/silent workstation. Here is the partslist that I have so far

NZXT Phantom 410

MSI Z87-GD65

MSI GAMING N760 4GB (I need to do 3D rendering)

i5 4670K (I do plan to overclock)

16 GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1866

Corsair RM750

WD Black 1TB

Asus Disk Drive

Windows 8

I already know what Windows 8 is like, and I am ready to get something that will get me all the performance that I need. I am currently using an Asus G46VW, and it is just not good enough for what I need to do. Any help would be appreciated!

What's your budget? I might be able to make a better build...

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

I would get a lower PSU unless you plan to sli.

For the price of that card I suggest looking at R8 series or maybe a 7950/70

Also I would get cheaper RAM. Corsair is pretty overpriced for 1866mhz

Kingston has some pretty cheap ram.

IMO the hyperX Beast is the best looking.

Ripjaws is amazing for the price point also.

Just get the best looking/cheapest between those 3. Cant go wrong

Ssd and aftermarket cpu cooler.

Oh yeah. You'll want an aftermarket CPU cooler if you want to OC stably. Im not saying youc ant OC with the stock cooler, but I would recommend getting at least a Coolermaster Hyper 212.

1) Get a lower PSU maybe around the 550 - 600 mark

2) Get an SSD it will make your life so much better!

3) you wont really need 4GB card even if you will be rendering. It will just be bottlenedcked by the GPU's Total power

4) Get a good enough aftermarker cooler, Maybe a corsair H100i or H220 from swifttech

5) Get ALOT OF FANS and maybe a fan controler, ( set everything to the min RPMs whilse still getting good airflow is important)

Also unless you watercool you GPU your system will whine like a child especially when you are rendering something in 3d or playing a game.

Also If you can Indicate a price range are are working with. We might make so much suggestions but if it can't fit your budget it'll be useless. :)

*Wants silent system--gets caviar black*

Caviar blacks can be quite loud and aren't worth the money. Seagate barracudas are cheaper and have similar performance. The 3TB variant of WD Reds have an extra thick enclosure that make them nearly silent. WD Greens are quiet as well.

What's your budget? Programs you are using? Just saying workstation is quite vague.
