Buying a foreign GPU

DaMainMan

Hello everyone,

I will be in the US on Business next month. I'm planning on getting a 1070 or 1080, but since I'm totally apalled by the european prices, I want to buy one while in the states (savings of about €150). I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work, but I just wanted to double check.

Thanks in advance!

it will work, but any RMA process will likely be much more difficult.

I would try to pick a brand that have a good international warranty policy, incase anything goes wrong. But I can't think of one right now.

Shipping to the US is a nightmare. A friend had her Tablet magically disappear even tho her sister sent it.

Hmm its a risk to take I suppose. But better RMA isn't worth €150 to me.

It is to me. Imagine buying a 700$ 1080 only to have it break in a year and you not being able to get it replaced.

Like I said, I still have to option to send everything to a friend over there. And I classify the risk of it being stolen along the way as rather low.

no guarantees that the item won't get lost in the shipping process.

I believe the laws regarding returns are less favourable than within the EU also.

Basically as long as you don't get a duff one you're golden, but if there is a problem with it, it could get painful...

if the gtx 1070 is too expensive, i can suggest going with a used gtx 980ti instead? they should be cheaper.

Its not like I would have to save for another 3 months to buy it. I just feel like I'm getting ripped off with the european prices.
