Certain chips are worse at handling higher or lower voltages. they will seem to work at a sort of 'goldilock's zone' of voltages :)

Powerhouse: i7 5960X, RVE, 64GB 2400Mhz DDR4, GTX 1080ti SLI, Intel 750 400GB boot, 850 EVO 1tb storage, AX1500i

proto-Powerhouse: i7 3930K, RIVE, 32GB 2133 DDR3, GTX 980ti SLI, 850 EVO 1tb boot, barracuda 4 tb storage, HX850i  ded RIP

Work in progress: Powerzen: R7 1700, X370 Taichi, 32GB, gtx 1050ti (temporary), 850 evo 1tb, Hx 850i

Unraid NAS Server: i7 5820k, X99E-mitx, 32GB 2133 DDR4, THE MIGHTY GT 710 (WITH GOLD PLATED HDMI!!!!!), 3x 10 tb drives, 250 gb ssd cache, Antec 550W PSU, Node 304

it is likely voltages... you eventually reach a point where you really do need to start cranking it up to achieve stability. with my 6700k i have 4.7 at 1.375v but if want to go 4.8 then i need minimum 1.425v to have some stability.

intel burn..aida64 are the main ones to use to simulate real world..prime95 is unrealistic so i personally dont use it. if you can pass 6+hrs on them then i would call that stable.

That's probably because you are using the wrong version of P95. You are supposed to use 28.9, not 27.

Really??? I wonder how mine is still not a piece of charcoal after being under 28.9 load for 30 days straight.

Joke aside, that's so not true. Prime95 won't cook CPUs. PEOPLE (and dumb ones, mind you) will cook CPUs, using Prime95.

One thing that you gotta understand: you should not watch Linus for advice. You should watch his videos for the fun, but as far as actual advice, he's not a very reputable source.

The Small FTT test, I suppose?

But yeah, sometimes it takes longer to find instabilities. Can happen. Mine was passing 30min tests, but failing just shy of 1h. Then I changed settings and it started passing 1h tests, but was failing on the 5h ones.

If ROG Bench is doing a better job, then you might as well just use that for now until it passes that test.
