Z68 able to handle 10xx series?

Hello!

Was wondering, will older motherboard series such as the Z6x and Z7x handle the new 10xx series well?

Friend of mine is in need of new GPU, was thinking of 1060

Does it have PCI-e? Yes (hint: that's the answer)? Then it supports any modern graphics card.

They are all compatible with each other. It could be a PCIe 1.0 mobo with 3.0 GPU or the other way around, it would work just fine.
