Nvidia Gamestream - Wheres my weak link?

CtrlAltELITE

So I am looking for some help to find the weak point of my network that is preventing me from using Nvidia GameStream on my Shield TV. Currently I am experiencing massive amounts of packet loss making it unusable on my TV due to huge amounts of stuttering, which is one of the main reasons I purchased the thing (And for using it as a transcoding platform so I could downsize my old NAS, this function it performs well)

I have shown a picture of my current home network, I am required to use an access point for one side of the house as the main router does not come close to reaching there, I also have no easy access to a hard wired connection for either device. This is my equipment:

BT Homehub 4 - Freebie router with my ISP, I assume this is the weakpoint but I am not knowledgable about networking.
Ubiquiti UniFi AP LR - Connected to homehub via 50m gigabit ethernet
NAS - Old PC, serves content to the shield for PLEX stream
PC - 980M equiped gaming laptop with Killer Wifi card
Shield - Connected wirelessly with good signal

If it is the router causing my packetloss and stuttering which I assume it is what would you guys recommend as a cheap replacement? Or is the issue to do with the fact I cannot connect directly to my router.

There is no possibility of moving the router as that is the primary phone line entry point into the house, the AP is also drilled into the ceiling.

Ethernet from PC to Router then WiFi from Router to Shield might probably help since then you're not having 2 devices trying to talk over the same airspace (WiFi) to each other through a third party (router) because they can't talk directly to each other over WiFi.

Honestly, you should be using Ethernet for most systems anyway as it's got a higher data throughput (1000mbps aka 1gbps for CAT5e & CAT6 standards, Vs like 300mbps for the best WiFi standard) and leaving the WiFi open for only the mobile devices like handheld consoles, tablets and smartphones.

Dont have that luxury sadly. I rent this house and have no means of putting ethernet through my walls. Hope to do that when I buy my next one, just need to get some money off a damn bank! xD.

Eh, you can always get a long cable (like the one between the router and AP) and lay that along the top of bookshelves and the like so you don't risk tripping over it.

Heck, I'm currently using a long custom-made cable to hook my Monsuta Rig to my modem and just have it laying along the floor so I don't have to punch holes in the walls of this old place just to run the cable through. xD
