Are you transcoding. If your not its fine, if you are, its close, but you could make it work.

Most likely. I have some MKV media and most players don't support it. This machine will literally only be for the Plex server though so the nothing other than the OS will be using the resources.

It should be enough though as long as two people aren't transcoding?

Its more than enough if you aren't transcoding. If you are try to put a quad core in there. The dual core would transcode only one stream at once well.

Yeah, an i3 would be ideal. This is what I had picked initially (http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Rm7dm8), but for $20 I think I'll just see how this works out.

Do you think it'll have any problems with one transcoding and one only streaming?

Your computer caught on fire? Were you using a pancake as a heatsink?

well, it kinda filled the entire house with a burning smell, and after letting it air out for a few months it magically worked again, i never found what the part was that caught fire, one of the fans did fail after a few hours of being transplanted into another system, so i guess that was the culprit.

Damn. That's scary. You're lucky you were home and that it didn't actually catch-catch on fire.

i just wanna say that a HP system is the only system i'd leave alone feeling at least somewhat safe about it running with all mobo caps bloated up.
