Intel Server board issues

Hey all so i've got an intel S5000SL Motherboard with a xeon X5460 and 8GB of ECC FB DDR2 Ram in it. The problem is I can't seem to get it started up.

Its getting power through the board

I replaced the CMOS Battery

I'm pretty sure the power supply is good (see first comment)(no way to test it though cause it doesn't have a power switch)

all cables are plugged in correctly

not getting any beep codes

I've tried all combos of the power on 2 pin connector i can think of but nothing happens.

Any idea if this board requires a proprietary front panel IO or cable/pin setup?

It has 4 6 pin fan headers, any idea if those need to be connected (also has 4 standard 3 pin fan headers)

Any chance the 24/4/2 pin connectors on the board use proprietary layouts?

Any help would be great. I really don't want to see this board go if its got any chance of still being good because its got exactly the pcie/sata/pcix/cpu layout I need and other boards of this type would cost way to much for me to buy right now.

You need a special front panel adapter. Try booting it without a cmos battery as most mobo will just turn on with out a battery.

Id stay away form the old xeon 54xx and older cpu's as there very hot running.

What are you using for your GPU?, I'm asking because most older UEFI dont support modern graphics ,luckily from what I can see on Intel's website is that you have an onboard graphics chip. I suggest that you plug your monitor through the VGA port on the back of your motherboard and see if that works. Also, when you say that you have power on the board do any of the fans turn on or do any of the peripherals connected function?, if so, this should fix it.

Some servers will not power on without CPU fans and a chassis fan connected. If the motherboard has IPMI/iLO/BMC/IMM/iDRAC get that connected up and check the server health and event logs on that.

Edit: Also if dual CPU certain RAM slots need to be populated as well else it won't power on. Had this a few times, not all server are like this. Try running with a single CPU and see if you can get it booted.

I've been running the onboard graphics through vga and have also tried it with an HD 4650. The monitor changes when theres a connection so I know thats working.

Thank you very much I will try this.

I'm only running 1 CPU right now and from the board doc I believe I do have the ram slots in the right config out of 2 possible ones that i know of so far. Ill try ipmi and the fans in different configs as well.
