Is the 550 corsair vs a good psu for a i5 6500 and a gtx 1060?

in terms of wattage 550 is enough
but which corsair model specifically are you looking at?

The Corsair VS is very, very poor. Check out the PSU Tier list in my signature.

Nope not really. Get a minimum of the CX (Grey label) for Corsair.

 

What budget do you have for the psu ?

I am forced by warranty to have one, already replaced one VS PSU, this second one has begun rattling, but not yet causing more issues, is going asap I can get cash together for an EVGA one.

EVGA has some pretty bad apples as well. No company is 100% solid with PSUs, minus Seasonic.

Although you are running a R9 390 I see. That would ideally require something in excess of ~550W.

A 500watt is fine, although it has to be a quality one.
