(disclaimer, I know using Wattman is safer and is much better for people who doesn't usually OC).

Yep, this is a rant but I don't find it fair how reviewers are using Wattman to OC custom cards, look at kitguru's review on the sapphire nitro (and Asus Strix), they specifically said the RX480 would probably overlock better using sapphire's Trixx 3.0 (which isn't released yet) but I'm sure they could have used afterburner or something other than Wattman as they say how Wattman doesn't handle voltage increase properly on both cards which is very important on getting high overstocks. Also there's a driver bug which forces 65c as target temp.

"As I detailed earlier in the review I don’t feel Wattman is a great software package. Voltage increases didn’t seem to work on the Sapphire cards either so I am confident that when Sapphire release TriXX 3.0 better results will be possible."

P.s. Sorry night theme users and for not quoting with the box...don't know how to remove formatting and add the boxes on mobile...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

I have a feeling it was a time issue? Though, given they had it some time before lift of NDA, I feel they had plenty of time to fiddle with it.

1390mhz with Wattman only is pretty damn good so although it could be silicon lottery, 1400mhz at lease like I hoped should be doable with afterburner or Trixx ;)

At least they disclose it, making it clear that they could probably have gotten higher clocks with another program.

Fair enough but...1 hour of testing? Afterburner? I personally don't know what afterburner is like to RX480 but more manual control so...

Though kitguru still achieved 1400mhz on the RX 480 STRIX, which is a pretty decent score imho.

IIRC, Wattman max voltage limit is 1150mV. Most 1.4Ghz+ RX-480 i've seen need at least 1200mV for that speed and they used der8auer RX-480 BIOS with voltage locked to 1400mV and control them with GPU Tweak.

That's on early batches of 480 though, i read newer 480 chips have lower leakage.
