i was considering painting some of my fans (fractal silent 140), but i was worried what would it do to preformace.

would they get louder, move less air or tick?

i plan to spray the blades black if you need to know.

Well if done correctly, it could not affect performance unless you have glossy paint which makes airflow a bit easier in a way. Disassemble the fan correctly and there shouldn't be problems.

Do not paint them, dye them!

Painting will lose balance of fans.

No, use Rit Dye, it  dyes the plastic in the fan (you can only go darker, not lighter) its easy to use just takes a bit, take the fans apart first, don't want dye in the mechanism.
