Best Laptop Possible For ~$1000 USD

Hey! I am currently looking for a laptop around $1000-1100 for my brother. This will be used for school work, and some light gaming. Would prefer a larger laptop (ex. 15in-17in) but also one that isn't thick as a brick. I would love to hear your recommendations as I'm not to good at picking out laptops :P. Thanks.

This is what I'd recommend. Save a bit more cash on the laptop and you get everything you need, plus it's got a healthy battery capacity to it too.  Helps with long school days. :3

 

I get around 8-9 hours of battery life when unplugged and it handles all the games I possess without much issue. 960M is still a great chip, and since this machine was to be used with "Light gaming" in mind, the emphasis is less on the GPU and more on the battery. For the price it boasts, there's no better deal out there.

40% screen brightness, indoors, surfing with Edge Browser. Not joking. o-o

 

I get around 5-6 hours with Google Chrome though... which is more realistic for me.

Cheapest. I simply look at the price most of the time. Things like Prema BIOSes can always be easily installed by the user.

By power users. The average joe knows squat about it. Also the newest machine's bioses aren't on the website.

A little over budget, but amazing machine I own the 17 inch iteration a long with a main gaming rig and it has been running like a clock for 6 months, great customer service as well dropped the laptop by mistake off the stairs they repaired all the broken parts for free even though I voided the warranty by upgrading the RAM.
