I found one for 200 dollars

http://rochester.craigslist.org/sop/5699807842.html

My PSU cannot handle this GPU but I can always upgrade my PSU.

I was planning on the Nitro+ RX 480, but I checked craigslist last second, Found this gem.

Its old but is it worth it over RX 480?

CPU: A8-5600K GPU: MSI RX 480 GAMING X 4GB MOBO: ASUS A55BM-PLUS

RAM: 2x 4GB Samsung DDR3-1600 1.25V PSU: Corsair CX430 CASE: Enermax Ostrog Windowed STORAGE: PNY CS1111 120GB / Hitachi 1TB 7200RPM OS: Windows 10 Pro & macOS Sierra 10.12.3

Your CPU will bottleneck both.

RX480 has more vram though and is generally newer, i'd take it over the 780ti.

It's about the same as a 970, faster on some games, slower on others.  Sounds a lot like the 480, doesn't it?  RAM is an issue on newer titles even at 1080p, and if you're buying a psu too, I would just go for a 480. GTA V uses ~4.5GB all settings maxed at 1080p.   Doom, witcher, rottr, others are similar, and more will follow suit.

Still, that extra gb will be important moving forward, and you'll get considerable improvements over the next couple years, where the 780ti is seeing its tuning for best performance in the rearview.

480 > 970.

I'd say get that APU to 6ghz so it finally dies and then buy a used i5 or something.

You'll get a little better than 480 performance in dx11, little worse in dx 12 going forward, and again driver optimization for the 970 is about to come to an end since it is EOL.   I would rather have a 480nitro, but that's up to you.

Honestly, I'd try pushing for a used R9 390 or GTX 970. You can probably snipe one for ~$180 or so.

A 390 and he'd have to upgrade psu still.

Well, you have to kinda think long term with this situation. Will you be happier saving $20 now, or have a better experience for a year or two longer? If the prices are within ~$40 of each other, I would buy a 480. If $40 or greater then I would go for the deal.

What about a microcenter?  Or jet.com gives you 15% off your first three purchases. Ebay has a money back guarantee, just had to use it on a used 4770K a few months back.

Just get RX 480. Might cost you more than 780 ti, but it will have better performance in general, and you won't need to buy new PSU, so you kinda save some money also.

I bought my 1060 off of jet, and plenty of stuff off Ebay.  e5 2670 is a great cpu, but the low clockspeed on the 8 cores is a bit of a downside for gaming.

How far is Rochester to nyc? i mean, my "local" microcenter is 100 miles away, lol. I still manage to make it in there. I just plan it out to get lots at one time, haha.

Yeah, was looking at that myself.  200+?  no thanks, lol.  Even if you're getting an 8 core, 16 thread cpu for $80.  I'd rather have a $80 matx board and a 6600K for gaming.
