Project Z

JokerProduction

Been a laptop gamer for many years but finally decided to do a full setup for when I do get to spend some time at home.  Started this little project back in january and feel I've made some good progress. I still have some plans to come but thought I would share some pictures of it.  I will apologize in advance for the photos as they were all just taken with my phone and not nearly enough were taken along the way.

PC specs

-4790k 4.8@ 1.3v

-H80 AIO (I was originally planning on getting the H100 but was offered the H80 for free because it was missing one fan but was otherwise brand new)

-32GB Crucial Balistix

-MSI Z97S sli krait

-2X crucial MX200 960gb SSDs

-Gigabyte Windforce GTX970 (This was just to tide me over till I could get a 1080FTW that I have pre-ordered and have still yet to receive it)

-4X 120mm Ring Fans

-2X 140mm Riing Fans

-Custom white cables for the GPU and MB that will be installed with the new graphics card when it shows up.

Rest of the Room.

This setup involves a lot of LEDs that I feel work with the desk very nicely(hell they require their own 200W power supply)The LEDs are also being supplied with 14V and mounted to aluminum stock to help dissipate heat from being overdriven.  I also made up a custom harness for the LEDs so there are disconnects between each section of desk and for each monitor. In these pictures not much time was spent on cable management as I was waiting for my 1500W sinewave UPS to show up but I feel it still turned out fairly nice.  trying to go for a simple zombie theme with black and blue w/ green accents  running throughout.  The upper monitors are on full articulating mounts and can be swung down beside but I much prefer it in this setup(except for Flight Simulators) otherwise I'm only ever gaming on the 3440X1440 34" main display.

I would like to hear suggestions on things that could be improved.

I also did just receive these and am wondering If and where I should mount them.  I'm thinking of mounting the two axes between the window and where the machete rack is and the throwing knives in some sort of pattern above the pc tower.  At the same time I kind of like the simplicity of just the machetes and insane lighting.  Also any good zombie theme ultrawide wallpapers anyone could recommend would be much appreciated.  Its surprising how little ultrawide support there is.

Small Update Picked up a PDP afterglow Xbone controller.  I've been meaning to pick up a controller for awhile now to play all the old school emulators and for forza.  I'm really impressed with this thing and would say it actually is a improvement over the authentic Xbone controllers.  It worked right out of the box no driver issues.

Hardly any updates but I did spend a few hours today and redid the cable management and relocated a few components.

And I got a new phone and the pictures seem to be a fair bit better than my old S4 so here is a more updated picture (this was before the new cable management).

Considering changing the case out to a corsair 460x or 570x when they finally come available.

I would swap out that H80 asap. I had one on my 3770K a couple of years ago, it made more noise than my 212 at the same level of cooling. Maybe with some good static pressure fans it will perform better. It was that cooler that drove me to custom loops

Bumping this old thread.  Not really much more I can change but I did add a Studio Condenser Mic.  Also just ordered a thermal take view 31 TG to replace the current and better show off the hardware.

New fiscal year means a new update.

Finally got around to doing the case swap.  Was pretty torn choosing between the 460x and the thermaltake view 31, so when in doubt get the most expensive and I ended up with an anaidees crystal AI.  Also purchased a crucial MX300 2tb but haven't installed it because silly me for assuming a 700$ hard drive would come with the sata cable.  Also picked up some sleeved cables.(and yes I noticed after looking at the picture that I messed up the order putting the cables in the combs. Its fixed now)

Everything swapped over and first power on.

Wasn't expecting the glass to be tinted quite so dark so I may look at adding some LED strips.

Well that didn't last long.  Tint was to dark for my liking so I ended up adding a single strip of RGB leds that I just jumpered to make white and wired that into one the many unused molex connectors I had laying around from my fans.

At this time its just a strip of 18 5050 Leds along the top I *may* add another down the bottom.
