980ti upgrade

Flavlus

I have just upgraded my 670 to a 980ti G1 Gaming OC. I opted for it over the 1070 as the Reference 1070 (lowest priced) would of been at least $100 more expensive than what i have paid for my used 980ti. Not 100% sure i made the right decision but what do you guy think?

I have all three plus the 1080. I liked the 1080... Not enough, gave it to the wife. Got the 1070. Saw little if any improvement... gave it to the kid. Stuck with the 980Ti since it is much faster once overclocked and matched my 1080.

Wtf? The 1080 is heaps faster than the 1070 and 980 Ti. And the 980 Ti overclocked is basically a 1070.

My overclocked 980 Ti matched the 1080 FE with some exceptions at 5760x1080@60.

Pretty sure a 980ti running at 1450Mhz or higher runs toe to toe, or even faster than a 1070 that has been OC'd to 2050Mhz which is the soft cap for Pascal GPUs.

The 1070 has been marketed well, but the truth shows otherwise.

The reason for this is because the Pascal architecture scales poorly, a 1700 > 2000 overclock will barely give you 1-3 FPS more compared to stock.
