How so? There is playhead lag and on the timeline the line through the footage is laggy.

Because scrubbing through footage isnt perfectly smooth since it has to live render everything on your screen, with no prediction of where you will scrub to next, and it has to change the framerate hundreds of times per second depending on how fast the mouse moves, and load footage at a faster speed than regular playback.

You can tell Adobe applications to use more RAM by going to Edit > Preferences > Memory and decrease the RAM reserved for other applications so it allocates the RAM to Premiere. Not sure how to do it on other editors.

 

Also, try putting the videos you're trying to scrub through on your SSD and import it onto the editor.

In task manager when you scrub through the video DO you see anything go near 100%? Like CPU, or storage.

And how much ram do you have?

Nope nothing like that but cpu did get a little hyper and i got up to 87% cpu for a short time. i have 16gb of ram.

I cant scrub fast without getting lag, i have to scrub really slow to get it smooth.

Oh, well you can try allocating more ram in the video editing program settings, but its pretty normal that scrubbing fast lags.

No what is the usage on the disk. If it is around 80MB/s or more depending on the drive you could be saturating it

The playhead is laggy tho., look at the line though the footage at the bottom on the timeline.

Because scrubbing through footage isnt perfectly smooth since it has to live render everything on your screen, with no prediction of where you will scrub to next, and it has to change the framerate hundreds of times per second depending on how fast the mouse moves, and load footage at a faster speed than regular playback.

Not sure why the playhead looks choppy, I don't have that problem and my system is a lot weaker than yours. But it doesn't seem to be a problem so just ignore it. If it really bothers though you try reinstalling Windows again, I've had brand new installations act strangely in the past so it's not an impossibility.
