full disk encryption

I am looking at encrypting my laptop. My laptop is a haswell based msi gs70 with uefi bios. I would like to encypted the raid storage and the 1tb mechanical hardrive. I would really like to have the ability to use two factor authication via a usb thumb drive. Does anyone have any advice?

Windows, use bitlocker,

LInux, use luks/dmcrypt

mac, use firevalt.

Windows 10, sorry I forgot to mention that. I have been playing around bestcrypt currently but I haven't seen much reviews on it. I also came across veracrypt but haven't messed with it.

Veracrypt is a nice tool, especially when using with DragonFly BSD or that Linux thingy which both support its encryption over dmcrypt.

Veracrypt is good, but remember that it CANNOT encrypt GPT partitions, if you are using UEFI you may be using a GPT partition.

 

If you want to encrypt your drive, it can be difficult, so I suggest not encrypting your whole disk and instead encrypting external drives and or encrypting communication.  Encrypting your disk can also cause problems, and I would only advise it if you know the risk and hassles involved.
